I found out yesterday that my piece, "Pearls of the Journey," has been selected for the next round of judging in the 2011 Fire Mountain Gems and Beads' Pearls, Organic Beads or Clay Jewelry-Making Contest. Designs will be judged on use of color, design, originality and craftsmanship. Keep your fingers crossed for me! :)
I was lucky to meet Jill Grossman at the Gill's Landscape Nursery "Art in the Garden." She is a stained glass artist and the owner of Artists' Nook & Gallery located at 939 Ayers at Six Points in Corpus Christi. She rarely takes jewelry, but invited me to show some of my flower pendants and other pendants in her gallery. There will be a reception this Saturday. I am so excited for this opportunity! Please support our local small businesses and artists this Christmas! We have so many talented people in Corpus Christi. I am almost overwhelmed by it as I participate in these events! They also have these adorable lawn art/ornaments that are metal. I came so close to coming home with a new little metal goat for the backyard! The Gill nursery staff were great hosts. It is so refreshing to see so many people so happy at their workplace. Everyone there was upbeat and happy. I think that makes owning one of their Christmas trees even better. :) We did come home with some new plants that Katie and Mom picked out: a ponytail palm, a cactus, a ficus, and an aloe ve
